Canoeing the Ozarks in the Winter

PLEASE SIGN OUR GUESTBOOK! WE VALUE YOUR FEEDBACK!!!!!

Everytime I suggest a winter float to someone, the normal response is, "Are you serious?" Yet, at the end of the float, most people comment on what a great time they had and they wish the trip wasn't over. A winter float trip through the Ozarks offers some very unique and scenic conditions that only exist this time of year. If you're looking to escape the summer crowds and the annoying insects, give one of our winter trips a try.

Winter on the Jack's Fork River

Winter on the Current River

A winter float is not always frost bite and frozen fingers. When we plan our winter floats, we try to avoid the extreme weather as much as possible. Good weather, good friends and good equipment are all you need for an exciting adventure exploring any of your favorite Ozark streams in the winter. On a winter float, it's possible to see wildlife and waterfowl that you won't see in the summer time due to the crowds. You never know what you're going to see around the next bend. We've floated past bald eagles, wild turkeys, whitetail deer and wild horses. On a recent winter trip to the Current River, we came across an armadillo!
